Iconic-Glasses-In-Professional-Wrestling

Arguably, one of the greatest forms of entertainment on Earth is professional wrestling.

It’s live drama, comedy, stunts, and storytelling all wrapped into one unique package designed to take your emotions on a roller coaster.

Part of what makes wrestling unique is the variety of characters and how they look.

Each character can be enhanced by what kind of glasses they sport.

Let’s take a look at some of the most iconic glasses in pro wrestling history.

Bret Hart

Bret “The Hitman” Hart is recognized as not only one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, but one of the top 40 Canadians of all time.

As “The Excellence of Execution” made his way to the ring in his trademark sunglasses, he would often remove his shades and give them away to a lucky fan sitting ringside.

That’s one of the reasons why this WWE Hall of Famer is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

Sasha Banks

The “Legit Boss” is a relative newcomer to WWE, but she’s captivated fans with her in-ring style and her attitude.

As Sasha struts her way to the ring, he can be seen in glasses that feature the word “BOSS” across them.

That’s all we need to know about how she feels about her abilities in the squared circle.

“Macho Man” Randy Savage

What list of iconic glasses could be complete without the Macho Man?

As sure as the sun rises, so would the Macho Man change his look.

No matter what glasses he picked out for the night, Randy Savage always dazzled with his fashion.

The Miz

Making his first foray on television as a member of MTV’s The Real World, The Miz has flourished as a WWE superstar and actor.

The future of the “A-Lister” is so bright he’ll need his typical aviators.

Edge & Christian

This tag team proclaimed they “totally reeked of awesomeness,” and they let everyone know with their bizarre choices of eyewear that bordered on futuristic and space-age.

Edge and Christian enjoyed the spotlight so much with their hard-to-be-duplicated shades that they would often pause for a five-second pose for fans.

The Dudley Boyz

From the unconventional to the bizarre, the Dudley Boyz make this list for their notable use of glasses—or lack thereof.

The Dudleyz wore only frames. They were taped in the middle, which leads us to assume they were not fond of scheduling regular eye exams or getting new frames.

Becky Lynch

Not all of the WWE superstars wear glasses.

In fact, this first-ever WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion chooses to wear steampunk goggles.

“They make me feel like a pilot, and I imagine this is my ship, and I'm going to take it to infinity and beyond,” she said on the Talk Is Jericho podcast. “And then, it's like I can see the world through my own unique set of eyes, for my bexplorations."

The Blue Meanie

What’s peculiar about the Blue Meanie is that he wears no physical frames. Instead, the real-life incarnation of the villains of the 1968 movie “Yellow Submarine” paints glasses on his face.

Of course, many other wrestlers rely on sunglasses to give their character an edge. Leave a comment below to tell us about your favorite wrestler’s iconic glasses.
