Summer and increased sun exposure, along with general time spent outside, go hand-in-hand. It’s important to protect your eyes during the time you spend outside because prolonged sun exposure can damage your eyes in the long run.

Luckily, Bard Optical has a few options for sunglasses that suit everyone’s needs! Here’s the three main options that we have to provide you with eye protection.

1. Traditional Sunglasses

We are all familiar with traditional sunglasses, so the details on this should be simple.

We offer options for everyone when it comes to eye protection, and the most common solution for our clients is sunglasses.

If you don’t have a prescription, then any pair of ours can be offered to you easily, and all you’d have to do is make sure they fit and are the right frame for you!

For those with a prescription, this only means a special set of lenses would have to be made for the frames, which is no big deal. We can take care of this for you, and then you can have sunglasses for any time of year as long as your prescription remains the same!

2. Transition Lenses

Some people who wear glasses prefer this option, as it means only one pair of frames is necessary.

Transition lenses involve the regular prescription glasses, which function normally when inside. The wearer can see anything as they normally would.

When they step outside, and their lenses are exposed to the sun, the lenses automatically “transition” into being sunglasses!

These have been increasing in popularity over the years because of convenience.

For people who frequently go in and out of buildings, or just don’t want to have to deal with a second set of frames, this is the best option for you!

3. Snap-on Sunglasses

Snap-on sunglasses are slightly less common, but equally as useful as the other two options listed.

Snap-on frames do exactly what they sound like—they are magnetized to “snap on” to the frame the person normally wears, effectively turning them into sunglasses with not extra prescription (or full frame) necessary.

These may be convenient for those of us who don’t want to buy a second frame for sunglasses, or just aren’t fans of transition lenses.

These require that the sunglasses portion be carried around, but that’s a minor thing to worry about. It’s more important to keep your eyes protected, and we want you to do that in whichever way works best for you!

We at Bard Optical understand that everyone has different needs when it comes to their glasses choices, and this also encompasses sunglasses. We offer multiple options to ensure that you are satisfied with whatever you choose.

We want you to have confidence in your looks and your vision, so stop in for an exam and pick up a set of sunglasses (or whatever suits you!) before you leave for vacation!
